A Random Act of Kindness

Today I was having a pretty bad day, and I decided to go to good ol' Timmies (Tim Hortons - a Canadian coffee franchise - for those who don't know) to get a hot chocolate. When I went to pay, the cashier told me it was on him, and handed me this card:

"It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day rush. Amidst the lectures, labs, assignments, essays, midterms, clubs, sports, committees and commitments it can be easy to lose sight of the big picture: that there's over 23 000 of us studying here and while we are all complexly, beautifully different in so many ways, we are apt to forget how we are also simply, wonderfully similar. Each of us trying to pass our classes, to stay ahead of the curve. Each of us trying to plan our lives, make friends, and maintain family. Each of us chasing those fleeting moments of happiness. Let's chase them together. Take a second of your day to pass this card on to someone else with a random act of kindness of your own. You don't have to know them, in fact, its cooler if you don't. Just be creative, friendly and spontaneous. I promise you won't regret the warm fuzzy feeling it gives you!"

I have to say, this random act of kindness definitely made my day and put a smile on my face. It's true that its the little things that make all the difference. I encourage all of you to spread the love and help make a stranger's day a little brighter - it will make both of you feel great!
